The OBS 105 M 30 INC-x is an optical motion sensor with an incremental interface for measuring and monitoring relative motion between the sensor and object surface. This means that it has various fields of application such as measuring velocity, length and speed. Relative motion is recorded using an infrared laser and a digital camera, which takes a number of object surface images and evaluates motion information. The OBS 105 M 30 INC-x has two measurement axes, X and Y, which are ar- ranged at right angles and are evaluated separately. The measurement signals are output using two incremental interfaces. Length information is assigned to the incremental values so that evaluations can be undertaken relating to the relative motion. As well as the incremental interfaces, the OBS 105 M 30 INC-x has two digital switching outputs. The way these are configured using the relevant software can produce a series of additional functions such as setpoint monitoring or detection of direction. Both the function of the incremental interfaces and the digital switching outputs can be programmed using an RS232 communication interface and configuration software.
